Set of 16 Titanium Retainers to convert to Shim Under Buckets for the first generation Yamaha V-Max 1200 (1985-2007).
 
These retainers are used to convert the original retainer, bucket and shim to a more modern arrangement where the shim is held by the retainer bellow the bucket like it is commonly used in most current high performance motorcycles.
This has many advantages:
1 - The shim will not spit out when using aggressive camshafts and increasing the RPM limit because it is held between the retainer and the bucket.
2 - Great reduction in valvetrain weight of around 15g per valve can be expected. This reduction results from a lighter retainer (Titanium vs Steel), a much lighter shim (9,5mm vs 25mm) and a much lighter bucket.
 
These factors ensure the greatest performance and reliability for racing or heavily modified engines.
 
These retainers are made of best grade titanium (Grade 5)
 
The original retainers weight 8,0g and the titanium retainers weight 6,6g.
 
These retainers also have a smaller profile/height (less 0,5mm) to allow for more valve lift without contact with oil seal and without requiring valve guide modifications.
